los 88 finger louie surgieron como banda en la primavera de 1993 en chicago,con la intencion de hacer un punk rock divertido, tomaran su nombre de un personaje de la serie los picapiedras, en 1993 los 88 autolanzaron su primer Ep y aparecieron en unos compilado locales de punk rock antes de llamar la atencion del sello discografico de fat wreck chords en 1994 y aparecen el el compilado fat music for fat people. Sus primeros Ep´s Go Away and Wanted, fueron tomados como tipico y muy rapidos adecuados para la musica skate.
